Chinese Holidays
The Chinese Ghost Festical is celebrated in the 15th day of the 7th month on the lunar calender. It is a day where people give sacrifices to the ghosts by burning paper. It is also a day when the dead can meet their loved ones. Death is very bad on that day because it is believed that the spirit of the deceased would leave with thte ghosts. If a child is born on that day, the date on their birth certificate is changed. Chinese Valentine's Day is also celebrated during the 7th month of the lunar calender, except it is the 7th day. On that day, lovers go to temples to pray for good luck, and the people who are single pray in hopes of finding love. Girls drop needles in a bowl of water, and if the needle floats, then they are good at embroidery. People also make shrines out of fruit, plants, and paper as a tribute to the weaving maiden and the cowherder.
